Description
The American Heart Association will hold its annual Palmetto Heart Walk on Saturday, April 28th, at Shelter Cove Community Park on Hilton Head Island. More than 700 supporters and survivors are expected to attend and raise funds to support cardiovascular research and education. The Heart Walk raises awareness that walking 30 minutes a day greatly reduces your risk of heart disease and stroke, which are America's number 1 and number 5 killers.
Activities begin at 8:30 am and the walk starts at 9:30 am. Participants can walk the one mile loop or the 5k route. For the first time, the Heart Walk will offer a 5k race, which begins at 9:30 am. For those entering the 5k, there is a registration fee of $30.00. Participants will receive a 5k tee shirt, and medals will be awarded.
